April 26, 2011 |
On September 26, 2006, we met with a
representative from a rescue agency that specialized in rescuing
Beagles. We met at the dog park just off Greenfield and the 202
in Mesa, AZ. That was when we got our first glimpse of Eddie.
He was an adorable tri-color Beagle, full of energy and love.
He was especially full of love. He seemed to be at his best
performance in an effort to inherit a permanent home.
The lady from the agency explained that he was an abused dog who lived
a miserable life in a Missouri puppy mill. He apparently got
into quite a dog fight while there as he had a piece of his ear bit
off, along with a portion of his mouth ripped. Nevertheless, he
was quite the charmer.
As it appeared to be a perfect match, we found the fourth member of
our family, a friend for Barney and he Found a permanent home.
We left the park with 'Eddie' and brought him to his new, permanent
home.
For the next 4-1/2 years, he was a bundle of joy, full of fun, but
mostly full of love. He was quickly catching up with the
affection he sorely missed in the first 8 years of his life. And
he was certainly getting it while living here with us.
Last night, after fighting an unknown illness for a short time, Eddie
left us. We each spent a lot of time with him, knowing the end
was near, and when the time came, he left knowing that he was
Sincerely loved and will be greatly missed.
Goodbye Eddie.

Eddie’s Rainbow Bridge
TThere
is a bridge connecting heaven and earth
It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills, valleys with lush green grass
When our beloved pet, Eddie died, he went to this special place
There is always food and water and warm spring weather
Eddie was old and frail but was made young again
Others who were maimed are made whole again
All the animals play all day with each other
But there is only one thing missing
Eddie is not with his special people who loved him here on Earth
So each day he runs and plays until the day comes
when Eddie suddenly stops playing and looks up
His nose twitches
His ears are up
His eyes are intently staring
And Eddie suddenly runs from the group
We have been seen, and when we and Eddie meet again,
we take him into our arms and embrace
our faces are kissed again and again,
and we look once more into the eyes of our beloved pet
Then we cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated
