The classic tale of King Authur (Nigel Terry) and the Knights of the Round Table as it follows the mighty sword Excalibur from its beginnings when Merlyn (Nicol Williamson) gives the sword to the then King Pendragon (Gabriel Burne). Upon his death, he buries the sword in stone to prevent anyone but his true heir from becoming King. Many years later, his bastard son Arthur draws the blade from the stone and begins his reign over Camelot. With Merlyn's guidance, Arthur rules well until his evil step-sister Morgana (Helen Mirran) tricks him into having a child. This child and other betrayals from within his trusted Knights of the Round Table might be Arthur's undoing and crack the honor of his Kingdom.
