When his father is suddenly killed, Australian highlander and horseman Jim Craig (Tom Burlinson) decides to come down from the mountains and earn some money to build his own ranch. His friend, gold miner Spur (Kirk Douglas), offers him a share of his mine, but he decides to work Spur’s twin brother, Harrison (also Kirk Douglas), as a ranch hand. Jim begins breaking Harrison’s new, wild stallion, which is a gift for his daughter, Jessica Harrison (Sigrid Thorton). Jim and Jessica quickly fall in love and Harrison drives Jim from the ranch because he does not want his daughter marrying a penniless man. One day, the young stallion escapes the ranch and joins a group of wild horses. Harrison offers a large reward to the man who can bring in the mob of horses. Jim joins in the wild chase as this is his chance to earn enough money to build his ranch and win his love.
