(Katherine Watson) is a free thinking graduate of UCLA who accepts a teaching post at the exclusive and conservative, women-only, Wellesley College. Watson tries to open her students' minds by making them think for themselves and not the way society wants them to think and behave. She encourages her students to believe in themselves, to study and become career professionals. Katherine uses art as a vehicle to put across her opinion to the young and impressionable women. However, her ways and ideas are not the acceptable means expected by the school's directors who frown on her ideas and yet win the affection of her students.
