“Support Your Local Sheriff” is a comedy that sees Jason McCullough (James Garner) passing through a dingy old gold rush town on his way to Australia. Needing money for the rest of his journey, McCullough takes up the position of local Sheriff for the small town. Here he meets a lovely western gal in the local saloon, Prudy Perkins (Joan Hackett) but this is short lived when McCullough is challenged to do his job. It isn’t long before dazzling the town with his crafty marksmanship that he arrests Joe Danby (Bruce Dern) the son of the local land baron, Pa Danby (Walter Brennan). It isn’t soon after that the Danby family sends hire guns for Sheriff McCullough who has to use every bit of wit to out maneuver the evil in this town.
