The Maitlands, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis), are living an idyllic, seemingly charmed life when an unfortunate accident ends their life. Though now on the other side the Maitlands have attempted to continue living their idyllic life, when an annoying family, the Deetz family, moves from New York City having purchased their home. The Deetz family are an unwanted annoyance to the Maitlands and they try to enlist the help of Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), who advertises his services as bio-exorcist, or one who can rid you of those pesky humans. To the Maitlands ultimate dismay Beetlejuice turns out to be more of a nuisance than a help. When they come in to contact with the Deetz's daughter and befriend her, the Maitlands must decide whether to go through with their efforts to rid themselves of the Deetzes or let them stay.
